Christ the King Spiritual Life Center 575 Burton Road Greenwich, New York 12834 (518)692-9550
I would like to invite you to the Memorial Day 2013 weekend symposium titled, "When Johnny Comes Marching Home...and Gets Arrested - From Honor to Dishonor and Back", which will focus on veterans in the American Justice System, to be held in Greenwich, NY. To begin our conference, Soldier's Heart will host a small but intense war healing retreat beginning Thursday afternoon May 23rd thru Friday afternoon May 24th that will address the spiritual wounds of war in veterans and our communities, and then beginning Friday afternoon May 24th thru Sunday afternoon May 26th, with In Our Name, Soldiers Heart, Saratoga WarHorse, Prison Action Network and the Life Craft Foundation Inc. have put together a program which will focus on veterans in the American Justice System.
We hope this will be a weekend where active duty military, veterans, care providers, criminal justice professionals, advocates, faith and general communities in the tri-state areas, can come together to learn and discuss and come up with workable proposals for reform of veterans' programs in our justice system. The theme for the weekend is - freedom and healing through education.
The setting for the retreat and conference will be the Christ the King Spiritual Life Center campus, in Greenwich, NY, an idyllic 600 acre facility with lodging, dining and accommodations on site. You can learn more about the Christ the King Spiritual Life Center by visiting their website www.ctkcenter.org. Our program participants include some of the most respected advocates and professionals in veterans' services. Our moderator for the weekend will be Gabriel Sayegh of the Drug Policy Alliance in New York City.
There is no fee to attend the retreat or conference; full scholarships have been generously provided by program sponsors for all meals and/or accommodations but donations are always welcome to continue the program. If you are a veteran or have a family member who is a veteran or active military duty, or an advocate for someone who is a veteran, then you are welcome and encouraged to come.
