Susan M. Verbeke is the Guidance Specialist for the Veterans Program of the State of New York Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the Office of Guidance and Counseling. Currently New York State has approximately 2,500 veteran inmates and provide various veterans services at all of its 58 correctional facilities, three of which have residential programs.
Ms. Verbeke has worked for NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision for 24 years, primarily focusing on rehabilitation programs for incarcerated veterans. She also worked part time as an adjunct instructor for 15 years at a SUNY college, teaching courses in public health and health care management. She retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves in 2004, having served 28 years, active and reserve, as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. Ms. Verbeke holds a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from the University of North Florida.
Ms. Verbeke was instrumental in coordinating the filming of the Veteran's Program at Mt. McGregor CF, which was shown at the Memorial Day conference on restorative Justice for Veterans.
